Established in 1979, Pratap Plastics has its presence in the PAN India market in Houseware and School category for around four decades. They have trademarked the typeface, which shouldn’t be changed. Also, the logo is supposed to be used across various mediums, and hence needs to be flexible in adaptability. With this brief, 7thSense was taken onboard.

7thSense followed the process of 4D’s – Discovery, Design, Develop & Deliver.

Client: Pratap Plastics

Category: Redesign Brand Identity

Discover

Together, we went through the Discovery Process of knowing the market, competition, brand mapping and finding the sweet spot for future. The process helped them get a clear view of who they were and where they wanted to go. Accordingly, a strategic plan was developed that would be the base of all further activity.

Strategic Plan: To position the brand as the leaders in School products and continue with the typeface of the current logo, as it has a presence and recall value of 25+ years in the market.

Design

After the assessment of the discovery process, brainstorming sessions between artist, strategic advisors led to creation of design approaches, mood boards. These wireframes were presented to client and based on their feedback the logo was developed, and colour palette was finalised.

Ideation: The concept of class monitor badge was finalised, thereby reinforcing the positioning of leader in school category.

Develop

In the Development Phase we begin to build the new brand with new colors, logo mark, and messaging. As the brand begins to take a new shape, brand guidelines continue, a new website platform, custom functionality and design are created. The new messaging is integrated into current channels and we continue to work with the Pratap team for implementation.

Deliver

In the final step of the 4D process, Deliver, all the components of the project begin to come together and prepare for launch. We worked tightly with the Pratap team to get every asset they needed, put the finishing touches on the packaging, website and other collaterals.

Flexibility: Pratap team had their printing vendors set and not all were able to reproduce the same tonality. Understanding these limitations, we did minor tweaking by removing the steel gradient, and making it white for easy reproduction across vendors.
